So my question is this, what's holding Wolcen Studio (the devs) back from addressing the issues with the game ? Are they a small team ? or are they limited by a rolling budget, eg ongoing sales of the game, or something else ? However the devs clearly have a great deal of passion for this game, as they are still updating it and refining it and even adding whole new chunks of content, like the recent 'Endgame' update. Unfortunately 3 years later Wolcen still has a lot of issues, not least of which are a Cry Physics crash that literally can stop you from progressing past a certain point in the game, offline saving issues, and a myriad of other smaller more general issues / bugs / glitches. But truth to be told even genres like MOBA(s) (which has basic ARPG+RTS elements) are constantly struggling with balance, but at least they are true to their focus. So yeah Wolcen is one of my favourite arpgs, I played it at launch and really enjoyed it, despite all the major issues it had at launch - and i'm looking forward to playing it again when i'm able to. Those who want real pvp play genres that focus on it. Games like Diablo were always pve oriented and the majority of players have been happy with that. PvP in itself is extremely hard to balance due to the lengths of possibilities that a character can hold, so generally devs choose a path pretty early in the development to define the main focus of their game (and manage their time and resources accordingly). allow to devs.Īs a game develops or grows, things constantly change which affects both pvp and pve, and it's extremely hard and time-consuming to balance one without hurting the other. or becomes simply neglected both by devs and players.Īnd there is a financial side of it too, which leads to what's the most appealing to the majority and what the circumstances like budget, time etc. Over the time most players get bored, angry or salty, or all three, and pvp goes downhill. People cry, changes are made and a new best emerges, people cry again. There is always that one class or build or something that is better than the others. I always wanted PvP to work in these kind of games.
